Booking mariachi bands in Chico
Chico combines a college-town music scene around Chico State with Bidwell Park, orchards and ranch venues, giving it one of the liveliest event calendars in the North State. For larger acts traveling from Sacramento or the Bay Area, we negotiate travel and lodging as a single line item.
Where Chico events happen
Orchards, ranches, downtown venues, and outdoor gardens and parks.
Season & timing
Spring and fall are prime. Summer heat pushes ceremonies toward evening, and late-season dates can bring smoke risk, so an indoor backup plan is smart.
Choose the group size
Smaller groups suit serenatas and home parties; a full mariachi with trumpets and violins brings the classic big sound for quinceañeras, weddings and large celebrations.
Plan the moment
Many Chico hosts book mariachi for a high-energy entrance or a 45–60 minute set during dinner. A surprise serenata can be as short as a few songs.
Share your song list
Tell us the songs that matter to your family, from the misa and vals to favorite rancheras, so the group can prepare them.
Options we book
Mariachi (5–12 musicians)
Serenades, mass, ceremonies and receptions.
Norteño or banda
Dance-focused regional Mexican music.
Salsa and cumbia
Tropical dance bands for receptions and festivals.
Questions to ask before you book
- How many musicians will come, and which instruments?
- Can you play the misa or the quinceañera vals?
- How long is a set, and can we add time on the day?
- Do you need amplification or power?
- Do you wear traje de charro?
We ask these for you, and negotiate number of musicians, performance length, day of week and the contract terms on your behalf.

Hiring a mariachi band in Chico: FAQ
How much does a mariachi band cost in Chico?
Mariachi groups set their own rates based on group size, length of the set, date and travel, so we don't publish prices. Tell us your date and plans and we'll bring you Chico quotes.
Can a mariachi band play a church ceremony?
Yes. Many groups perform the Misa Mariachi and ceremony music, and they coordinate with your church on timing and placement.
How long does a mariachi usually play?
Anywhere from a 15–20 minute serenata to several hours. For parties, one or two 45–60 minute sets are the most common.
Can we combine mariachi with a DJ?
Yes, and it's popular for quinceañeras and weddings: mariachi for the entrance or dinner, then a DJ for dancing. We can book and coordinate both.
How many musicians are in a mariachi?
A full mariachi typically has 7 to 12 musicians. Smaller groups of 4 to 6 work well for serenades and smaller budgets.
